New Mexico ( NM ) Labor Law Quick Facts:

A new law that went into effect on July 1, 2009 allows the state to recover triple damages from an employer who violates the New Mexico minimum wage law. This law also increases the statute of limitations from one year to three years. Since January 1, 2009 the New Mexico minimum wage has been $7.50 per hour, or $2.13 per hour for tipped employees. Smoking is banned in most workplaces, and outside workplaces near doors, windows and ventilation ducts. New Mexico employers must make reasonable accommodations for nursing mothers to pump breast milk at work.*
