New Jersey ( NJ ) Labor Law Quick Facts:

The New Jersey minimum wage increases on July 24, 2009 from $7.15 to $7.25 per hour, reflecting the increase in the federal minimum wage. The minimum wage for tipped employees remains at $2.13 per hour. The state minimum wage does not apply to outside salespersons and minors under the age of 18 in a few selected industries. New Jersey Family Leave benefits, paid by the state, provide up to 6 weeks of paid leave for baby bonding, or to care for sick family member or a child. The New Jersey Temporary Disability Benefits Law provides cash benefits to employees who are unable to work due to a non-work-related injury or illness.*
